Product groups that are produced in Winschoten are:

  • Quartz glass for lighting (e.g., intended for automotive head lighting, HID, projection) and for non-lighting (e.g., intended for water purification, semicon, optical fibres, projection, thermocouples) applications.
  • Special glass for lighting (Automotive signalling, medical and disinfection) and for non-lighting (solar, packaging glass) applications.
  • Pellets; as a raw material for own use or external to, for example, glass studios

As Team Leader of the Operational Group at QSIL in Winschoten, where we produce high-quality Quartz and special glass, you will soon make the difference for our production organization. A challenging role in which you lead the team that ensures that our complex production process runs smoothly and that our glass ovens are always used as efficiently as possible. And there's a lot to it! You set the lines, fill in preconditions, inspire the team and are the bridge builder who ensures that all disciplines work well together. Curious? Then read on.

The job

  • As team leader of the Operational Group, you are and feel responsible for the production process and everything that comes with it. Your focus area is literally "from sand to customer", when you consider that sand is the most important raw material for our beautiful end products.
  • QSIL has built up a rich history and expertise when it comes to producing special glass. The strength lies in the flexibility of the production process and the diversity of our range, where everything revolves around planning, (cost) efficiency and consistently high process and product quality. Production takes place in 3 production halls, where work is done in different schedules (5 shifts, 2 shifts and day shifts).
  • Enough challenges that you can work with as a team leader: from realizing the "day-to-day" production planning, solving efficiency issues and unforeseen production disruptions to initiating structural process improvements.
  • Of course, you are not alone. Your team consists of different disciplines: planning, quality, team leaders, a process engineer, technical specialists, and maintenance. In total about 15 colleagues. As an inspirator of the team, you steer both on team development and on the development of individual competencies. You have a coaching style of leadership and a strong personality.
  • Furthermore, you are pragmatic in your approach, and you ensure that the objectives, for example in the field of production output, safety, efficiency, financial objectives, process control, personnel policy, quality are realized. Of course, you will be supported by the Operations Manager to whom you report.

Your profile

  • A technical or business education HBO or WO.
  • At least 5 years of experience gained in a management role in a production environment.
  • A fine sense of humour, natural predominance in combination with organizational sensitivity ensures that you can bind people to you.
  • You have an eye for the short and long term, work according to a recognizable structure and preferably already have some experience with LEAN methodologies and Continuous Improvement.

An important role in which you as a marketer are challenged to think along about the strategic repositioning of Qsil Netherlands. The job

  • You determine the marketing policy and positioning of QSIL Netherlands in consultation with the Sales Director and the marketing colleagues in Germany. You jointly set up the marketing strategy for QSIL Netherlands and translate it into annual marketing plans and targeted marketing campaigns. Obviously, we support you, with the current brochures and folders, etc. designed and made available by you.
  • As a marketing manager, you conduct market research and competitive analysis and explore the possibilities of existing and new markets. You manage the marketing budget and monitor the brand identity. To increase brand awareness, you organize activities such as events and visiting fairs.
  • You act as a contact between production and the customer. But of course, you are not alone. You are part of the Sales Team, and you will work closely with the various other disciplines within QSIL to achieve the intended objectives, with the support of the Sales Director.

Your profile

A challenging role in which you, as a Product Technologist, will be involved in the further development of glass recipes for existing markets. The job

  • You develop into the expert in recipes. QSIL has a unique technology that has continued to develop over the past 50 years. You monitor the recipes and tackle production issues by adjusting the recipes if necessary. Every day you must deal with the dynamics of working at the limits of what is currently known. In time you will replace the current product specialist, until then you will work together, and he will transfer his knowledge to you. You manage, complement and maintain the knowledge in the field of glass properties, raw materials, the melting process and applications of the glass.
  • The product technologist looks for raw materials for new recipes, creates new ones or makes changes based on questions from production, sales, or R&D. You test the recipes and raw materials on a laboratory scale and do model calculations to test upscaling effects.
  • In addition, your advice will be asked for problems with glass defects, design, furnace damage, energy, safety, and the environment. As a product technologist, you make plans for scaling up and supervise tests in the various factories.
  • You act as a contact between the suppliers (end applications) and the customers. But of course, you are not alone. You will be part of the R&D team and you will work closely with the various other disciplines within Qsil to achieve the intended objectives, supported by the R&D Manager.

Your profile

  • You graduated in Chemistry or Chemical Technology, experience with glass/ceramics is a plus. You have experience with project management and statistics.
  • You would like to specialize in glass technology and are willing to follow the necessary training courses.
