Know-how
QSIL has the latest technologies for manufacturing products from quartz and special glass, ceramics and metals. This know-how enables us to manufacture high precision components from individual pieces to series production, entirely according to the needs of our customers.
Ilmasil® quartz glass is manufactured using our self-developed plasma melting process: In a rotating melting vessel, high-purity quartz sand, which is located on the inner vessel wall as a result of centrifugal force, is melted to form hollow cylinders (billets). An electric arc of high power acts as the energy source. This plasma arc guarantees a constant temperature field over the entire melting chamber and thus causes uniform melting of the crystalline raw material into amorphous quartz glass.
